Bianca Gascoigne made it to the newspapers when she lifted the lid on the alleged abuse of her mother Sheryl by her stepfather Paul Gascoigne and her growing up in an atmosphere of domestic violence. Her relationship with her father went on a downward spiral then onwards, with Paul Gascoigne even going to the extent of claiming that he did not acknowledge her as his daughter any more. Their estrangement did not last long and they soon patched things up. Bianca Gascoigne stated that she was devastated when Paul Gascoigne was detained under the Mental Health Act. She asked the media to respect his privacy following his hospitalisation in May 2008. Paul Gascoigne was inspired by his daughter Bianca Gascoigne in his struggle to beat his addiction to alcohol in the Priory clinic.
Bianca Gascoigne first came to the limelight in 2006 as a contestant in the ITV reality show, Love Island, which was set in Fiji. She went on to win the contest along with Calum Best, former fashion model-turned-television personality. She appeared on two episodes, one in 2006 and the other in 2007, in the British television music talent show The X Factor, meant for aspiring singers drawn from public auditions.
